Born in Ipoh, Malaysia, Yeoh trained at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. She won Miss Malaysia in 1983 and entered Hong Kong cinema through a Jackie Chan watch commercial.
Career
She became Hong Kong action cinema’s most respected female lead in the late 1980s and 90s. After Ang Lee’s “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000) she crossed permanently to international productions, capped by her historic 2023 Oscar at age 60.
