StartEndContain is a focused informational site. We don't ask you to create an account to read anything, we don't sell data, and we keep tracking minimal. This page describes the small amount of data we do collect, why, and how to request its deletion.
Server logs
When you load a page, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records standard request metadata: your IP address, the requested URL, the HTTP referer, the user-agent string, and a timestamp. We use these to fix bugs, monitor uptime, and understand which pages are popular. We don't combine these logs with any identifying information.
Email subscriptions
Several pages include a sidebar form titled "New entries by email." If you submit it, we store the following in a Cloudflare D1 database called startendcontain_db, table subscribers:
- Email address — required, lower-cased and trimmed.
- Source page — the path you submitted from (e.g.
/fruits/that-start-with-a/). - Category — the section you were browsing, if any (foods, fruits, etc.).
- User-agent, IP, referer — captured automatically with the same request, used only for abuse prevention.
- Created-at timestamp.
We use the email only to send you the weekly digest of new entries. We don't share or sell it. Your email is stored under a uniqueness constraint, so submitting twice doesn't create two rows.
How to delete or opt out
Email hello@startendcontain.com with the subject line "delete me" from the address you signed up with and we'll remove the row within a few business days. You don't need to give a reason. An automated one-click unsubscribe link in every digest email is on our roadmap.
Cookies and tracking
The site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. There is no tracking pixel, no fingerprinting, and no cross-site tracker. If you arrive via a search engine or share a link in chat, those services may use their own cookies on their domains — that's outside our control.
Third parties
The only third party that processes your requests is Cloudflare, our hosting provider. The site is built on Cloudflare Workers + D1; logs and the subscribers database live in their infrastructure. Their privacy policy applies on top of ours.
If we ever add analytics or third-party widgets, this page will list them here before they go live.
Changes
If this policy changes substantively, we'll update this page and bump the date below. Trivial wording fixes don't get a bump.
