Origins
JBL was founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing, after whom the company is named. Lansing had previously founded Altec Lansing. The new company focused on high-fidelity loudspeakers.

JBL makes consumer audio products including portable Bluetooth speakers, wireless headphones, soundbars, and home theater systems. The professional division produces studio monitors, concert touring systems, and cinema sound equipment.
Operations
