Origins
LG was founded in 1947 by Koo In-hwoi as Lak-Hui Chemical Industrial Corp. in Busan, South Korea. GoldStar, established in 1958, later merged with Lucky to form the LG name, an abbreviation of Lucky-GoldStar, adopted officially in 1995.
