Origins
Pepsi was created in 1893 by pharmacist Caleb Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina, originally called Brad’s Drink. It was renamed Pepsi-Cola in 1898 and shortened to Pepsi in 1961. The Pepsi-Cola Company merged with Frito-Lay in 1965 to form PepsiCo.
