Origins
Starbucks was founded on March 30, 1971, by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. The original store sold whole-bean coffee, tea, and spices. Howard Schultz joined the company in 1982 and later transformed it into a coffeehouse chain.
