Origins
Founded in 1906 in Rochester, New York as The Haloid Photographic Company. In 1948 the company licensed Chester Carlson’s xerography invention and rebranded around it; in 1961 the name shortened to Xerox.
Products
Xerox is best known for plain-paper copiers, with the 914 (1959) being the first commercially successful one. The company expanded into laser printers, color printers, multifunction devices, and managed print services for enterprises.
Operations
Headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut. The Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), spun off in 2002, was responsible for many computing innovations including the graphical user interface and Ethernet.
