Origins
Oreo was introduced in 1912 by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) at its bakery in Manhattan. The original design has been refined over the years, settling on the familiar wafer pattern in 1952. The brand passed to Mondelez when Kraft Foods split in 2012.
