Origins

Quicken was first released in 1983 by Intuit, founded by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx. The software helped popularize personal computers for home accounting. In 2016 Intuit sold Quicken to private equity firm H.I.G. Capital.

Products

Quicken Classic is the long-running desktop personal finance application for Windows and Mac. Quicken Simplifi is a newer web and mobile budgeting subscription service.

Operations

Headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Quicken has continued as an independent company since the 2016 spinoff from Intuit and was later acquired by Aquiline Capital Partners in 2021.
