Origins
Kia was founded on December 11, 1944, in Seoul, originally as Kyungsung Precision Industry. It began as a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts before producing Korea’s first domestically built bicycle in 1951 and entering automobile production in the 1970s.
