Story
After Earth is overrun by sightless monsters with hyperacute hearing, the Abbott family lives on a rural farm where they communicate by American Sign Language and walk barefoot on sand paths. A new pregnancy threatens to break their silence.

The film opened to strong reviews and grossed over 340 million dollars worldwide on a small budget. Its inventive use of silence and sustained tension made it a critical and commercial success, and spawned the 2021 sequel A Quiet Place Part II.
