Juno

Filter:

A 2007 American coming-of-age comedy directed by Jason Reitman about a sardonic Minnesota teenager who becomes pregnant and chooses an adoptive family for her child.

Production

Fox Searchlight Pictures released Juno in December 2007. Diablo Cody wrote her first screenplay for the film. Ellen Page (later Elliot Page) starred as Juno MacGuff, with Michael Cera as the father Paulie Bleeker and Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman as prospective adoptive parents.

Story

Sixteen-year-old Juno discovers she is pregnant after a single encounter with her track-running friend Paulie. She finds a yuppie couple, Mark and Vanessa Loring, in the local Penny Saver who are hoping to adopt, and her relationship with the Lorings becomes more complicated than expected.

Reception

Juno earned more than 231 million dollars worldwide on a 6.5 million dollar budget. It received four Academy Award nominations, winning Best Original Screenplay, and helped establish the Sundance-inflected American indie comedy of the late 2000s.
