Use Somebody was written by the four members of Kings of Leon for the album “Only by the Night.” The arrangement opens with a wordless vocal call, builds through a sustained chord progression, and culminates with Caleb Followill’s high tenor on the chorus.

Released as the second single from the album, Use Somebody reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one on multiple rock and adult contemporary formats. It became the band’s first U.S. crossover hit.
