Born in Chicago, Illinois, Ford studied at Ripon College in Wisconsin before moving to Los Angeles in the mid-1960s, where he worked as a carpenter between small acting jobs.

Career

George Lucas cast him as Han Solo in “Star Wars” (1977), and Steven Spielberg cast him as Indiana Jones in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981). He reprised both roles repeatedly, including in “The Force Awakens” and “Dial of Destiny.” He led “Blade Runner,” “Witness,” “The Fugitive,” and “Air Force One,” and joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus Ross.
