Born in Mannheim, West Germany, Graf turned professional at 13 in 1982 and won her first Grand Slam at the 1987 French Open at age 17.
Career
In 1988 she became the only player to win all four Grand Slams and the Olympic singles gold in the same calendar year. She won seven Wimbledons, six French Opens, five US Opens, and four Australian Opens before retiring in 1999.
