A 2008 Wii platformer by Blue Tongue Entertainment in which a paint-splattering blob restores color to a black-and-white city occupied by the bleak INKT Corporation.
Concept
Originally a 2006 student project from the Utrecht School of the Arts, de Blob was acquired by THQ and rebuilt for Wii. The player rolls Blob through Chroma City to coat buildings, NPCs, and citizens in vibrant paint.
Gameplay
Blob absorbs colored paintbots to change hue and mixes shades to match objectives. Motion controls of the Wii Remote map jumps and ground pounds to physical gestures.
Legacy
de Blob spawned a 2011 sequel and was rereleased for current platforms in 2017 and 2018. Its motion-and-music-driven world influenced later art-and-color games like Splatoon.
