A 1981 action arcade game by Konami where players guide a frog across busy roads and a river of moving logs to reach safe lily pads.
Origin
Designed at Konami and licensed to Sega/Gremlin for North American distribution, Frogger asked players to time movements across two hazardous lanes — vehicles on a road, then alligators and logs on a river — to escort frogs to safety.
Gameplay
The fixed playfield and per-grid-square movement made Frogger immediately readable. Players had to deliver multiple frogs to home pads within a time limit while bonus items appeared occasionally.
Legacy
Frogger has been ported widely and remains synonymous with risk-and-reward arcade action. The premise has been parodied in television and continues to appear in modern remakes and mobile adaptations.
