Concept
After ten years of development as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the game was retooled into a numbered mainline title under director Hajime Tabata. Prince Noctis travels in the Regalia car with friends Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto.
Combat
A real-time combat system with summons and warp strikes replaced the menu-driven systems of past entries. Camping at scenic outposts provides nightly buffs from Ignis’s cooking.
Legacy
Final Fantasy XV sold over ten million copies and spawned the prequel film Kingsglaive and the anime Brotherhood. DLC episodes for each companion provided alternate viewpoints on the main story.
