Origin
Developed in Austin, Texas under close Nintendo supervision, Metroid Prime preserved the series’ isolation, scanning, and ability-gated exploration in a first-person view. Samus’s visor displays scan logs, maps, and environmental hazards.
Gameplay
Players explore the planet Tallon IV, gathering upgrades that open new paths. The first-person camera doubles as Samus’s helmet, with rain, scorches, and reflections appearing on the visor.
Legacy
Metroid Prime won wide acclaim for translating the series’ atmospheric exploration into 3D. It launched a trilogy and was remastered for the Nintendo Switch in 2023.
