In the End was written by all six members of Linkin Park during the sessions for “Hybrid Theory.” The song combines Mike Shinoda’s spoken-rapped verses with Chester Bennington’s sung chorus and a piano motif that opens the track.

Released as the fourth single from “Hybrid Theory,” In the End reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2002. The album sold over ten million copies in the United States and became the best-selling debut of the early 2000s.

Legacy
