Karma Police was written by the members of Radiohead during sessions for “OK Computer.” The arrangement is built on Jonny Greenwood’s piano figure and Thom Yorke’s vocal, with an extended noise-treated outro.
Reception
Released as the second single from the album in 1997, Karma Police reached the top ten on the UK Singles Chart and the top twenty on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks chart. It remains one of the band’s most-played radio singles.
Music Video
The video, directed by Jonathan Glazer, was filmed in a single take from inside a car pursuing a fleeing man. It received heavy MTV rotation and was widely cited as one of the most innovative music videos of the late 1990s.
