A 1999 Nintendo 64 golf game by Camelot Software in which Mario, Princess Peach, and friends compete on courses ranging from Toad Highlands to Bowser Badlands.
Origin
Camelot Software Planning had previously produced Mario Tennis and built Mario Golf on the same engine. Producer Hiroyuki Takahashi added an RPG-style career mode in the Game Boy Color version.
Roster
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, and several human characters all compete with distinctive ball flights, power levels, and lie-correction abilities.
Legacy
Mario Golf and its Camelot-led sequels through Mario Golf: Super Rush established a long-running spin-off series. Its mix of arcade play and statistical depth set the template for later Nintendo sports titles.
