Origin
Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, sharing the same Hyrule map while adding floating sky islands and a sprawling underground realm called the Depths. The story follows Link’s search for Princess Zelda after a cataclysm.
Build systems
New abilities let players fuse weapons with monster parts and bind objects together to construct vehicles, contraptions, and bridges. The Ultrahand and Fuse mechanics make creative engineering a core part of play.
Reception
Tears of the Kingdom sold over 18 million copies in its first six weeks and earned widespread critical praise. It demonstrated how aging hardware could still deliver an ambitious, deeply systemic open world.
