A 1996 arcade racing game by Atari Games in which players careen across exaggerated San Francisco streets, hunting shortcuts and air-time off the city's iconic hills.
Concept
San Francisco Rush emphasized arcade exaggeration over simulation. Cars launch dozens of feet off hills, and every track hides multiple alternate routes and a barrel-roll secret bonus.
Tracks
The four San Francisco tracks model real-life landmarks including Pier 39, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Chinatown. Each track is reversed in mirror mode for additional variants.
Legacy
The game spawned Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA, San Francisco Rush 2049, and Rush Rush Racing. The Atari Vault and Midway Arcade Treasures compilations have brought it back on multiple platforms.
