Geography
Bermuda comprises 181 islands and islets, the largest several joined by bridges into a continuous fishhook-shaped landmass roughly 35 km long. The territory lies about 1,000 km east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, isolated by the Gulf Stream.
Climate
Bermuda has a humid subtropical climate, the northernmost coral reefs in the Atlantic shelter the coastline. Although hurricanes occasionally pass nearby, the island is rarely struck directly.
Economy
International business and financial services, particularly reinsurance, dominate the economy. The territory has one of the highest GDPs per capita in the world.
