Geography
Grenada is volcanic and mountainous, with Mount Saint Catherine, a dormant volcano at 840 m, the highest peak. Several crater lakes, including Grand Etang and Lake Antoine, sit in volcanic depressions across the island.
Economy
Nutmeg and mace remain major exports, with Grenada among the world’s largest producers per capita. The nutmeg appears on the national flag. Cocoa, cinnamon, and other spices also contribute to the agricultural sector.
History
The United States led a military intervention in October 1983 after the killing of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop in a coup. Civilian rule was restored shortly afterward.
