A Guatemalan giant air plant that forms an enormous silver curly rosette without soil, the king of tillandsias and a centerpiece of modern living decor.
Description
Xerographica forms a giant rosette of silvery curling leaves dusted with absorbent scales. Mature plants can reach a metre wide and produce dramatic branched flower spikes of pink and red.
Cultivation
It needs bright light, good airflow, and a soaking every two to three weeks. Letting water sit in the rosette can rot the center, so shake off excess after soaking.
Uses
Xerographica is the most coveted of tillandsias and a flagship plant of high-end interiors. It has been over-collected from the wild, and most plants in shops should now come from cultivation.
