A movement artist who creates and stages dances for stage, screen, music videos, and live events.

What choreographers do

Training path

Most choreographers begin as performers, training intensively from a young age in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, or another tradition. They often hold degrees from conservatories or develop through company memberships and choreographic residencies.

Settings

Choreographers work for ballet and modern companies, Broadway and West End musicals, opera companies, music tours, film and television productions, ice skating shows, cheerleading, theme park entertainment, and competitive dance circuits.
