A skilled tradesperson who installs glass in windows, storefronts, skylights, and architectural facades.
What glaziers do
Glaziers measure openings, cut and finish glass, build aluminum or steel frames, and install windows, doors, mirrors, shower enclosures, and curtain wall systems on high-rise buildings. They replace broken panes, install safety film, and seal joints against air and water.
Training path
Most US glaziers complete a three- to four-year apprenticeship combining paid work with classroom instruction on glass types, frame systems, and OSHA fall protection. Trade school programs are an alternative entry point.
Specializations
Specializations include residential and storefront work, large commercial curtain wall installation, automotive glass replacement, and decorative or stained glass for restoration and custom projects.
