A Mexican rosette-forming succulent in jewel-toned colors, one of the most photogenic and collectible genera in modern succulent gardening.
Description
Echeverias form tight, low rosettes of fleshy leaves that flush pink, lavender, blue, or red in strong sun. Tall flower stalks bear small bell-shaped orange or red flowers.
Cultivation
Bright light, gritty cactus mix, and the soak-and-dry watering method keep echeverias compact and colorful. Crowded pots or shade stretch the rosettes and dull their colors.
Uses
Hugely popular in succulent arrangements, wedding bouquets, and as windowsill plants, echeverias are also frequently displayed in living wall installations and dish gardens.
