A small slow-growing Korean evergreen shrub with neat oval green leaves, prized as a hardy hedge and topiary plant in temperate gardens.
Description
Korean boxwood produces small oval glossy leaves on dense twiggy branches. It is more cold-hardy and looser in habit than English box, often staying healthy where English box browns out.
Cultivation
A tough, slow growing evergreen that takes well to shearing, Korean boxwood does best in cool moist conditions with light shade. Modern hybrids resist boxwood blight better.
Uses
A classic clipped hedge and parterre plant in cold climates, Korean box also features in Asian-inspired garden designs and as a substitute for true boxwood in formal landscapes.
