Kalanchoe

Kalanchoe blossfeldiana

Filter:

A Madagascan succulent grown for its compact umbrella-shaped clusters of long-lasting flowers in red, pink, orange, white, and yellow.

Description

Kalanchoe has thick rounded glossy leaves with scalloped edges. Above the foliage rise short stems that branch into dense clusters of small four-petaled flowers lasting many weeks.

Cultivation

Bright light, well-draining cactus mix, and dry-down between waterings keep kalanchoe healthy. It is a short-day plant; long autumn nights trigger bud formation for winter flowers.

Uses

A favorite small flowering gift plant worldwide, kalanchoe also includes mother of thousands and many spectacular succulent foliage species popular with collectors.
