Description
Rattlesnake plant has long narrow leaves with rippled edges, marked with alternating large and small dark green ovals on a paler ground. The undersides are deep wine purple.
Cultivation
Like all calatheas, it craves warmth, even moisture, high humidity, and filtered light. Hard tap water and dry air leave crispy edges; rain or distilled water suits it best.
Uses
A long-popular houseplant for its dramatic snake-like leaf pattern, the rattlesnake plant is also at home in shaded, humid tropical gardens.
