Training path

Most US financial analysts hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting. The Chartered Financial Analyst designation requires passing three exams and four years of qualified experience. Many also earn MBAs to advance into senior roles.

Financial analysts work in investment banks, asset managers, hedge funds, private equity firms, insurance companies, corporate finance teams, sovereign wealth funds, and consulting firms covering financial advisory work.
