Financial analysts build models, evaluate company performance, forecast revenue and cash flow, and recommend investments. Sell-side analysts publish research on public companies. Buy-side analysts support portfolio managers at funds. Corporate analysts plan budgets and capital projects.
Training path
Most US financial analysts hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting. The Chartered Financial Analyst designation requires passing three exams and four years of qualified experience. Many also earn MBAs to advance into senior roles.
