Aerospace engineers develop airliners, fighter jets, drones, helicopters, satellites, launch vehicles, and crewed spacecraft. They analyze aerodynamic loads, design structures and propulsion, model flight dynamics, and run wind tunnel and flight tests.
Training path
Most US aerospace engineers hold a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering, often paired with a master’s degree. Many positions in defense and space require US citizenship and security clearances.
