Dracaena

Dracaena fragrans

Filter:

A diverse genus of African and Asian foliage plants with strap-shaped leaves on woody stems, including popular houseplants like the corn plant and dragon tree.

Description

Dracaenas grow with one or several upright stems topped by tufts of green or variegated strap-like leaves. The corn plant variety has glossy yellow-banded foliage that resembles a corn stalk.

Cultivation

Dracaenas tolerate low light, fluoride-sensitive watering, and dry indoor air. Use distilled or rainwater to avoid leaf-tip browning. Most types prefer to dry slightly between waterings.

Uses

Hugely popular in offices and homes for their architectural look and forgiving nature, dracaenas are also commonly listed among air-filtering houseplants tested by NASA.
