Description
Spider plant forms a rosette of arching grass-like green-and-cream striped leaves. Long wiry stems carry small white flowers and clusters of dangling baby plantlets that root easily.
Cultivation
Almost foolproof, spider plant tolerates low light, irregular watering, and most temperatures. Use distilled or rain water to avoid fluoride-induced brown leaf tips.
Uses
A classic of windowsills, hanging baskets, and beginner gardens, spider plant was famously included in NASAs studies of indoor air-filtering houseplants in the 1980s.
